1939 Porsche Type 64

1939 Porsche Type 64 - TheArsenale

The perfect recipe for an expensive Porsche is air cooling systems and old age. This one has both of them plus it is rarer than sunshine in London.

Based on the same engine and chassis as the Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle for you laymen), the Type 64 was a purpose built vehicle for a race. It does have a few details that bring us Beetle-y vibes such as the sloped profile, headlights and its rear engine chassis. Only three of these cars were built and this prime example was used by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche as a family car. Passing down the hands of 4 lucky owners, this unique Porsche will hit the auctions stage at Monterey in August and we expect its price to be above 7 digits.
