Aston Martin has officially unveiled the Valkyrie Hypercar, marking an extraordinary leap in both design and engineering as part of the company’s bold return to high-level endurance racing. Created with the goal of conquering the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2025, the Valkyrie reflects Aston Martin’s ambition to secure an outright victory for the first time since their iconic 1959 win with the DBR1. Designed by renowned aerodynamicist Adrian Newey and chief creative officer Marek Reichman, the Valkyrie embodies a perfect union of racing pedigree and road-going hypercar sophistication. Its lightweight construction and exceptional power-to-weight ratio redefine the boundaries of performance.
In its racing iteration, the Valkyrie has been transformed to comply with World Endurance Championship (WEC) regulations, including reduced power output to improve fuel efficiency and reliability—crucial factors for enduring grueling 24-hour races. This track-focused version sports comprehensive aerodynamic enhancements, including aggressive aero packs and redesigned bodywork for optimal downforce and balance. Furthermore, features like a rapid refueling system, hydraulic jack points, and revised suspension prepare the Valkyrie for the demands of competitive endurance racing. In an exciting turn, Aston Martin Performance Technologies, alongside The Heart of Racing (THOR) Team, will simultaneously compete in both the eight-round WEC and the 11-round IMSA SportsCar Championship, solidifying the car’s footprint in international motorsport.
The Valkyrie’s debut season will kick off at the Qatar 1812km WEC round in February 2025, culminating in an all-out effort to claim Le Mans glory on June 14-15 the same year. As Aston Martin’s first hypercar built directly from a road-legal design, it represents a revolutionary step forward in motorsports, blending the brand’s forward-thinking engineering with a legacy of racing excellence.
