BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) is expanding the reach of its highly esteemed Mono single-seat sports car to the United States. The introduction heralds a significant redesign of the platform which has held sway for the past decade. A highlight of the modifications is a refined version of the Mono's Ford Duratec-based 2.5-liter inline-four engine. This enhancement elevates the car's power by an additional 6 horsepower, elevating it to a sum total of 311, and driving its redline to a new high of 8,000 RPM.
Remarkably, the Mono has not gained any weight amidst these modifications. Maintaining its impressively lightweight at 1,257 pounds, the redesigned Mono remains a flyweight marvel in its category. The upgraded power and preserved light weight work in symphony with the car's six-speed sequential transmission to deliver a breathtaking performance. As a testament to its design excellence, the Mono can hit 60 MPH in a swift 2.7 seconds.
Even while focusing on performance, BAC has ensured comfort isn't compromised. The Mono's mechanically-adjustable, pushrod-actuated suspension and electronically-controlled dampers have been tweaked and tuned, ensuring a smoother ride on the streets without any adverse effects on its track performance.
