BERTONE COMES BACK FROM THE DEAD WITH THE GB110

BERTONE COMES BACK FROM THE DEAD WITH THE GB110 - TheArsenale

The Bertone GB110 is the legendary Italian design house's most ambitious comeback: a handbuilt, 1,100 hp hypercar limited to just 33 examples worldwide, celebrating 110 years of Bertone's automobile design legacy. Drawing on the iconic wedge language of the 1950s and 1970s, the GB110 fuses coachbuilding heritage with cutting-edge engineering to produce one of the most distinctive limited-edition supercars of the decade.

A Historic Revival: Bertone's GB110 Marks 110 Years of Italian Design

Founded in Turin in 1912, Bertone shaped generations of icons including the Lamborghini Miura, Alfa Romeo Montreal, and Lancia Stratos. The GB110 ("GB" standing for founder Giovanni Battista) is the house's first built-to-order production vehicle, effectively a resurrection of the coachbuilding tradition for the modern hypercar era. Only 33 units will be produced, each priced at approximately 2 million euros.

What Powers the Bertone GB110?

Under the carbon-fiber bodywork sits a modified 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V10 derived from the Lamborghini Huracan platform, tuned to produce 1,109 hp (827 kW) at 8,170 rpm and 811 lb-ft of torque. That translates to a 0-62 mph sprint in under 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h). Power reaches all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. One of the most remarkable engineering details: the GB110 is designed to run on fuel synthesised from recycled plastic waste, making it the first hypercar to attempt such a sustainable fuel solution.

Design Language: Italian Wedge Reimagined

The GB110's exterior references the sharp, low, geometrically precise wedge forms that Bertone pioneered in the 1970s, most famously with the Lamborghini Countach and Alfa Romeo Carabo concepts. A contrast of soft surfaces and razor-sharp horizontal lines defines the front fascia and flows into the flanks, creating visual tension that captures what Bertone calls "the attitude and demeanour of the traditional Italian gentleman." The production version premiered publicly at Top Marques Monaco in June 2024.

How Does the GB110 Compare to Other Hypercars?

At 1,100 hp and a sub-3-second 0-62 time, the GB110 directly challenges established limited-production hypercars. Its combination of a naturally aspirated-derived V10 (force-fed with turbos), all-wheel drive and coachbuilt exclusivity places it in rare company. For context, the Lamborghini Huracan STO produces 630 hp from the same engine family in naturally aspirated form. The GB110 nearly doubles that figure. According to Top Gear's review, the GB110 represents Bertone's most credible attempt yet to return as an active automaker rather than a pure design studio.
