Ehang Passes First Demo Flight in US - TheArsenale

Ehang's autonomous air taxi was first unveiled at CES 2016 and it returned to CES 2020 with full force. The company has been working to get the Ehang AAV on air and it successfully passed its first test flight.

The concept of the Ehang is to be an air taxi capable of taking off and landing anywhere to transport people over busy traffic. Ehang previously demonstrated the capabilities of its 184 drone when it released footage of it carrying passengers over secure testing grounds. Back in November 2019, Ehang flew two of its drones over Guangzhou and then proceeded to partner up with Heli Chuangxin Real Estate Co. Ltd to create a joint project that will demonstrate the advantages of easily accessible flight. However, they had never had their testing done in the US monitored by an authority until now.

Flying over North Carolina under monitoring by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Ehang drone went through its first unmanned flight. It was not carrying passengers this time but it was the first time an AAV was granted a flight permit.
