The UDX Airwolf eVTOL hoverbike is a two-seat tiltrotor electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft capable of 230 km/h top speed, 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and a flight range of up to 66 km, priced at 350,000 EUR. Built around a carbon composite airframe with electric ducted fans from Italian supplier VasyFan, it is one of the most performance-focused personal eVTOL aircraft to reach prototype stage.

 

What Is the UDX Airwolf?

UDX, standing for Unlimited Drone eXperience, is the company behind the Airwolf. The vehicle is classified as a tandem-seat, open cockpit tiltrotor aircraft: four electric ducted fans (EDFs) replace the large-diameter rotor blades used on conventional aircraft, making the Airwolf safer and easier to store. The flight width of 4.55 metres folds down to a transport width of 2.45 metres. An onboard carbon composite airframe keeps empty weight at approximately 290 kg while supporting a maximum payload of 150 kg, enough for two passengers.

Why Electric Ducted Fans?

Conventional large-diameter propellers present a safety risk to people nearby and make storage difficult. The Airwolf's EDFs are fully enclosed, drastically reducing the hazard zone around the aircraft and allowing it to operate in tighter spaces. The tiltrotor configuration allows the aircraft to transition from vertical take-off into forward horizontal flight, with compact tandem wings providing lift efficiency during cruise and reducing energy consumption over the full flight envelope.

Performance and Specifications

The powertrain outputs 320 kW, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds, and drives a maximum speed of 230 km/h. On a full charge the Airwolf sustains flight for up to 25 minutes with a range of approximately 66 km. Charging from a standard 2-hour electric car charger is supported, as is a slower 6-hour consumer charge option. The aircraft is commercially targeted at a 2028 availability window at 350,000 EUR. Pilots will require an Ultralight Pilot Permit in the EU or a sport pilot certificate in the USA.
