We haven't seen a chronograph from Audemars Piguet since the early 20th century but after stealing the horological crowd's attention with a 1940s Stainless Steel & Pink Gold Chronograph back in 2018; their drive to create a new chronograph was rekindled.
Thus, the [Re]master01 was born out of this mission to remaster an iconic classic. It is not a historical reissue but it does retain the looks of its grandfather. Under the glass and metal though, its beating heart is an entirely different creature. Powered by the caliber 4409, the automatic chronograph takes off the date complication and replaces the skeletonized rotor with a hobnail pattern one. The two-tone case is still present and the blue hands and tachymeter scale contrast it beautifully. It even goes so far as to rock the old Audemars, Piguet & Co / Genève logo.
The [Re]master01 is limited to 500 pieces, each of them available only through an AP boutique. As the stores remain closed due to the pandemic, the watches are going on sale for $53,100.
