SONDORS, the electric motorcycle startup, has unveiled its latest offering for pre-order, the MetaBeast X, following the success of its first bike, the Metacycle. Unlike the Metacycle, the MetaBeast X is a dual-sport design with long suspension, knobby tires and wire spoke wheels, giving it better off-road capabilities. It weighs only 200 pounds and features an 18kW motor with a peak output of 24 horsepower and 60 NM of torque. The bike has a mid-mount motor and chain drive, making it fully street legal with a top speed of 75 mph.
The MetaBeast X is equipped with a 99-volt 56-amp/hour battery pack that SONDORS claims is capable of delivering 78 miles of range at 31 mph. The aluminum frame of the bike is cast as a single piece, simplifying production and lowering costs. The introductory price for the bike is $6,500 USD until April 11, after which it will be sold for the retail price of $8,000. The bike is available in three colorways: SilverBlade, Green Olive, and VantaBlack.
While the bike’s suspension travel, brand, brakes, and wheel sizes were not specified, the MetaBeast X appears to be a promising urban bike with a sleek, minimalist design that is ideal for freeway speeds. SONDORS has stated that the bike is expected to ship in October.
