THE REBIRTH OF LANCIA WITH ALL NEW SCI-FI MODELS
The new Lancia EV models signal one of the boldest rebirths in automotive history. The Stellantis-owned Italian marque, which carries 116 years of motorsport and design heritage, has committed to a ten-year all-electric transformation that will introduce three entirely new vehicles between 2024 and 2028, starting with silhouettes that are unmistakably science fiction in character.
Lancia's Ten-Year Electric Strategy
At its "Design Day" presentation, Lancia laid out a plan to relaunch the brand as a style-focused electric vehicle maker in the premium European segment. Three new models anchor the strategy: the Ypsilon (2024), the Gamma (2026), and the Delta (2028). Each will build on the nameplate heritage while moving entirely to electric powertrains, with hybrids initially offered on the Ypsilon and Gamma before a full-EV-only line-up from 2028 onwards. By that point, at least 50% of interior surfaces will use eco-sustainable materials.
Luca Napolitano, Lancia's CEO, framed the ambition clearly at the reveal: "Today is the start of our renaissance, which will amaze Lancia fans all over the world. Lancia will once again be a desirable, respected and trusted brand in the elite European market."
The Lancia Pu+Re Zero: A Design Manifesto
Rather than reveal production-ready images of its coming EVs, Lancia unveiled the Pu+Re Zero, an automobile sculpture described as the design DNA that all three models will share. The name combines the Italian words for "pure" and "zero" emissions, reflecting both the visual language and the environmental stance of the new Lancia. The silhouette teased sweeping, aerodynamic surfaces and a futuristic profile with no visible combustion-era compromises, earning its "sci-fi" label from the automotive press immediately.
According to InsideEVs' coverage of the Lancia strategy, the brand aims to occupy the "emotional Italian style" segment of the EV market, a space currently underserved by existing electric car makers.
What Are the Three New Lancia Models?
The Ypsilon launched in 2024 as a compact city EV in both pure electric and hybrid form. The Gamma arrives in 2026 as a flagship fastback sized alongside the BMW 4 Series, built on Stellantis's STLA Medium platform and targeting up to 700 km of range. Finally, the Delta in 2028 revives Lancia's most celebrated name, the car behind the HF Integrale's legendary rally victories, in an all-electric format that is expected to reintroduce the HF Integrale performance sub-brand. As Auto Express reported, all three models are on track and represent Lancia's genuine commitment to premium electric mobility.
Italian Design Heritage at TheArsenale
The Lancia renaissance reflects a broader appreciation for Italian automotive craft that has always been central to TheArsenale.
