Sweden’s NCCR or ‘Northern Classic, Custom & Race’ have come up with the latest crazy Buell: the Ice Racer AKA Moonshine Runner, hot enough to turn ice into fire.
There is no doubt that Sweden can be hardcore in the winter: Icy cold and a ruthless nature. Seems logical that their custom engines are just as brutal. The Buell XB9R Firebolt Ice Racer from the Swedish custom builder NCCR is worthy of descent. The XB9R is a collaboration between NCCR, Buell Racing, ME Racing, and SSAB - a steel processing company that provided the Backbone frame for the motorcycle.
The whole Krüper family, who run the company, helped to the motorcycle develpoment, turning it into a masterpiece. When the mother, Birgit, were asked about it she replies with a smile: “We wanted to build something beyond the usual; nothing ‘out of the box’ and something without any of the usual custom bike limitations or stereotypes.”
The bike, a ripped off Buell XB9R based, kept its fuel in frame concept and still carries its factory forks and swing-arm, while the wheels are from a donor one. As we said, the custom is made for snow cold and ice so, in case you didn't notice, the rubber has a special modification to cope with the harsh northern winters and the bike now rolls on 25mm speedway ice spikes.
All we can say is this post-atomic arctic circle edition motorcycle warmed our hearts.
