DAB Motors and the Vita Veloce Team (VVT) have teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind electric motorcycle with a design that draws deep inspiration from the iconic bike ridden by Shotaro Kaneda in the anime Akira. Unveiled at Colombian singer J Balvin’s birthday, this cutting-edge two-wheeler showcases the perfect marriage of advanced technology and hand-finished craftsmanship. The bike features a bold and monolithic 3D-printed bodywork, fully enclosing its expansive tires. Painted in a deep matte red with visible scratches and scuffs, the frame intentionally embodies a "lived-in" aesthetic, making it feel as if the bike carries its own story long before its first ride. Every aspect of this motorcycle’s design reflects an intersection of futuristic tools and human artistry.
The electric motorcycle goes further to integrate several standout features that make it an exceptional creation. The design teams utilized AI tools during the concept stage to refine the shape and details before moving forward with 3D printing for the bodywork. Adding manual touches, they sanded, painted, and hand-assembled the bike to bring it to life. Among its unique innovations, sound-absorbing foam is placed between the wheel covers and rims, giving the bike a subtle, low-frequency tone that reverberates through the rider’s body during a ride. The wheels also glow in the dark thanks to carefully integrated LED strips hidden inside the red shell, emitting a moody purplish-blue glow. At night, this striking lighting effect gives the bike an impressively atmospheric appearance.
Although originally designed as a custom piece for J Balvin, DAB Motors and VVT have hinted at a limited production run for those eager to ride this anime-inspired masterpiece. Beyond serving as a functional piece of transportation, the motorcycle is an artistic statement—merging retro-futuristic design with cutting-edge engineering. By combining AI modeling, 3D printing, and hand-crafted details, the collaboration has set an exciting benchmark for the future of electric two-wheelers.
