HONDA’S KORAIDON MOTORCYCLE BRINGS POKÉMON TO LIFE WITH MOVING FEATURES

Honda Koraidon motorcycle from the Honda Koraidon Project with The Pokemon Company

The Honda Koraidon motorcycle is a real-world, self-balancing concept that brings the Legendary Pokemon Koraidon to life. Built under the Honda Koraidon Project with The Pokemon Company, it stands about 2.5 meters tall, weighs roughly 303 kilograms, and moves its hands, feet, eyes and face as it rides. Unveiled in Tokyo in March 2025, it is a technology showcase rather than a production bike, fusing gaming culture with Honda's robotics know-how.

What is the Honda Koraidon motorcycle?

Honda has transformed the iconic Pokemon Koraidon into a real-world motorcycle, blending technology, innovation, and gaming nostalgia. The Pokemon Koraidon motorcycle was unveiled under Honda's Koraidon Project in collaboration with The Pokemon Company and showcased at the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Tokyo, Japan, from March 7th to 9th, 2025. Inspired by Koraidon from Pokemon Scarlet (2022), the motorcycle mirrors the weight, size, and distinct features of the legendary creature. To make the design even more lifelike, Honda added animated elements, including moving hands, feet, eyes, and an expressive face that moves dynamically as the motorcycle rides, vividly replicating the in-game character. According to Honda's official announcement, around 40 engineers volunteered for the project.

How does the self-balancing system work?

Bringing innovative engineering into play, the Pokemon Koraidon motorcycle incorporates Honda's advanced Riding Assist technology, enabling it to self-balance without a kickstand. This cutting edge system allows the bike to remain upright on its own, ensuring stability even if the rider briefly releases the handlebars. As New Atlas explains, Riding Assist grew out of Honda's research on the ASIMO humanoid robot. This feature aligns with Koraidon's in-game capabilities of adapting to various terrains as a companion Pokemon that transforms into a rideable form. The dynamic movement of its components and Honda's balance control technology create a seamless blend of fiction and reality, giving fans of both Pokemon and innovative mobility systems a thrilling experience.
