What Is the Honda 0 Series?
The Honda 0 Series is a new family of software-defined electric vehicles developed specifically to advance Honda's goal of zero-emission mobility. The "0" in the name represents zero emissions, zero fatalities, and zero traffic congestion. Unlike Honda's existing hybrids and EVs, the 0 Series vehicles are engineered from the ground up around a new EV architecture that prioritizes weight reduction, aerodynamic efficiency, and over-the-air software updates as first-class features rather than afterthoughts.
ASIMO OS: Ultra-Personal AI for the Driver's Seat
The defining technology of both prototypes is ASIMO OS, named in homage to Honda's iconic ASIMO humanoid robot programme. This vehicle operating system controls everything from automated driving functions to in-cabin entertainment and climate. Its core promise is "ultra-personal optimization": over time it learns individual driver preferences and adapts throttle response, route planning, ambient lighting, and audio settings accordingly. Continuous OTA updates refine features post-purchase without requiring a dealership visit. As Honda's official press release confirms, ASIMO OS supports Level 3 automated driving, enabling eyes-off operation in defined highway and urban scenarios, with further capability unlocked through future software releases.
Design, Charging, and the Energy Ecosystem
The 0 Saloon features a low, wedge-shaped profile with an interior more spacious than its exterior dimensions suggest, a common trait in dedicated EV platforms that remove the engine bay and transmission tunnel. The 0 SUV offers enhanced cabin flexibility and a taller greenhouse for improved visibility. Both vehicles support the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for broad Supercharger network access, and integrate with Honda's Home Energy Management System, enabling vehicle-to-grid bidirectional charging. Honda is positioning the 0 Series as a virtual power plant that feeds renewable energy back to the home or grid during peak demand. According to Honda's global newsroom, the 0 SUV arrives in North America first in early 2026, with the 0 Saloon following in late 2026.
