In a bold and innovative leap, Automobili Maggiore has redefined the boundaries of automotive restoration with Project M, a Ferrari 308 GTS Restomod that merges heritage with cutting-edge technology. Designed as a tribute to the iconic Ferrari featured in the classic TV series Magnum P.I., Project M pays homage to the 1980s icon while celebrating its 40th anniversary with a modern twist. The car's bodywork, entirely crafted from carbon fiber with the exception of the safety-oriented doors, sheds significant weight, making it 150 kg lighter than the original. This reduction in weight, paired with a meticulously redesigned engine, significantly enhances both performance and drivability. With a striking red-orange color scheme accentuated by light blue details—dubbed "Sunset in Forte dei Marmi"—the car seamlessly combines nostalgia with contemporary aesthetics, reminiscent of the vintage Ferrari Dino.
Every detail of the Project M exudes automotive artistry. Its engine, a re-engineered 3146cc V8, features numerous performance upgrades such as forged pistons with graphite coating, optimized valves, and an electronically controlled mechanical injection system. These refinements produce 310 horsepower at 7,000 RPM and 350 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM, with 80% of the torque available as early as 5,000 RPM. Coupled with upgraded suspension geometry, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, a custom Brembo brake system, and a lightweight racing clutch, Project M delivers exhilarating performance on both road and track. Additional touches, including LED lighting, 17” Maggiore aluminum wheels, and a stainless steel exhaust, ensure that this restomod not only respects tradition but also takes a bold leap into the future.

Beyond performance, Project M embraces luxury and attention to detail in its interior design. Created in collaboration with Stefan Scholten Design Studio in Amsterdam, the cabin features premium Italian leather, custom Maharam fabrics, and integration of high-end materials like carbon fiber, aluminum, and even marble. The car’s control levers, crafted from solid aluminum, and its minimalistic Sony Hi-Res stereo system further accentuate the blend of modernity and tradition. Although this first model, "car 0," was built as a fully functional showpiece, it has already garnered several prestigious awards, proving itself as both a collector’s dream and an engineering marvel. Through Project M, Automobili Maggiore masterfully blends passion, craftsmanship, and technology in homage to one of Ferrari's most beloved creations.
