ULTRAVIOLETTE F77 SPACE EDITION: AN ODYSSEY OF INNOVATION

ULTRAVIOLETTE F77 SPACE EDITION: AN ODYSSEY OF INNOVATION - TheArsenale

The Ultraviolette F77 Space Edition is one of the most distinctive electric motorcycles to emerge from India, a limited production of just 10 units built as an explicit tribute to the country's Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission. It bridges two worlds that rarely overlap: the precision engineering of the Indian Space Research Organisation and the raw performance demands of a street-legal electric sport bike.

What Makes the F77 Space Edition Different?

Ultraviolette Automotive positioned the F77 Space Edition not as a cosmetic variant but as a statement about materials and manufacturing philosophy. The frame and key components use Aluminium 7075, also known as aerospace-grade aluminum, the same alloy class employed in aircraft structural parts. This grade offers a strength-to-weight ratio that outperforms most steel alloys while keeping mass low, directly benefiting both range and handling dynamics.

The visual language reinforces the space mission theme: a white body paired with orange accents mirrors the livery of India's space program, and each motorcycle ships with a custom machined aluminum key fob. Only 10 units were produced, and all 10 sold out in 90 seconds when bookings opened in August 2023.

Ultraviolette F77 Space Edition: Specs and Performance

The F77 Space Edition is built on the standard F77 platform, which Ultraviolette has developed entirely in-house in Bangalore. The powertrain delivers 40 hp (30.2 kW) and 100 Nm of torque through a single electric motor. Key performance figures:

  • Top speed: 152 km/h
  • 0 to 60 km/h: 2.9 seconds
  • Battery: 10.3 kWh
  • IDC range: 307 km
  • Warranty: 8 years or 100,000 km

The package includes UV Care Max, Ultraviolette's comprehensive ownership program, and a boost charger for faster top-ups. Phase 1 deliveries began in Bangalore, with subsequent phases covering major Indian cities and, eventually, international markets.

India's Electric Motorcycle Moment

The F77 Space Edition arrives at a pivotal moment for Indian electric mobility. While much of the domestic EV conversation has centered on scooters and entry-level commuter bikes, Ultraviolette has deliberately targeted the performance segment, building a machine that competes on spec with international electric sport bikes at a fraction of the import price.

The Chandrayaan-3 connection is not purely marketing. The mission, which successfully landed a rover near the lunar south pole in August 2023, represented a landmark in low-cost, high-precision space engineering. Ultraviolette draws a deliberate parallel: both projects demonstrate that world-class technical outcomes can be achieved by Indian engineering teams working outside the traditional centers of the global automotive or aerospace industries.

The use of Aluminium 7075 throughout the F77 Space Edition reinforces this narrative. It is the same material specification used in aircraft spars and fuselage frames, brought into a two-wheeled context to reduce unsprung weight and improve structural rigidity.
