XPeng AeroHT, the electric air mobility arm of XPeng Inc., is making strides towards transforming urban transportation with the announcement of its modular flying car, slated for a market debut in 2026. Priced at no more than $280,000, this innovative vehicle marries the functionality of a ground vehicle with the cutting-edge technology of an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, offering a glimpse into the future of personal and urban transit. Since its inception over a decade ago, AeroHT has been at the forefront of developing eVTOL vehicles, exemplified by its latest project, the Land Aircraft Carrier. This modular flying car emerges as a symbol of AeroHT's ambition to seamlessly integrate air and ground transport.
The Land Aircraft Carrier is a significant leap forward in the realm of flying cars, combining XPeng's electric vehicle (EV) design heritage with pioneering aerospace technology. The project was publicly introduced during XPeng's annual event last fall alongside other groundbreaking models like the X3. Following successful test flights of the X2 model, the Land Aircraft Carrier is next in line for crewed public demonstrations, with plans to showcase this at the upcoming Zhuhai Airshow in November 2024. This approach not only demonstrates their technical prowess but also aims to pave the way for wider public acceptance of flying vehicles as a practical mode of transport.
Production of this ambitious vehicle has been postponed to accommodate the construction of a state-of-the-art facility in Guangzhou, China, expected to be completed by mid-2025. This hub will bolster AeroHT’s manufacturing capacity to over 10,000 eVTOLs annually, reinforcing its objective of becoming a global leader in electric vertical takeoff and landing technology. Furthermore, by securing substantial funding through successful investment rounds, AeroHT is poised to accelerate its plans towards mass production, heralding a new era in sustainable, multi-mode transportation solutions. As they prepare for the first deliveries, XPeng AeroHT is preparing to redefine the transportation landscape, blending the lines between road and sky.
