The air car, known as the AirCar by Klein Vision, is a dual mode flying vehicle that drives on the road like a normal car and takes off like a small aircraft. With an automated transformation system that deploys its wings and tail in under three minutes, the AirCar earned an official Certificate of Airworthiness in Slovakia, making it one of the most credible flying cars ever built.
What is the AirCar?
The future of transportation has arrived with the AirCar, a groundbreaking dual mode car aircraft vehicle set to revolutionize mid distance travel. It seamlessly transitions between being driven on roads like a regular car and taking flight like a small aircraft. Equipped with an automated transformation system, the AirCar can deploy and retract its wings and tail, enabling a smooth switch between road and air modes.

Is the AirCar certified to fly?
Yes. A major milestone was the issuance of an official Certificate of Airworthiness by the Slovak Transport Authority. As New Atlas reported, this followed 70 hours of rigorous flight testing with more than 200 takeoffs and landings, to standards compatible with the European Aviation Safety Agency. During these tests the AirCar showed astonishing static and dynamic stability in aircraft mode. As CNN noted, the vehicle is cleared for takeoff, though you will still need a pilot's license to fly it.

How fast is the AirCar and what powers it?
The AirCar is impressive not only in capability but also in its potential for mass production. The certified prototype is powered by a 1.6 litre BMW engine that drives both the propeller in flight and the wheels on the road. For upcoming production models, Klein Vision is developing the ecologically compliant ADEPT Airmotive aviation engine, which the company expects to deliver a top speed beyond 300 km/h and a range of around 1,000 km, while aligning with modern sustainability goals.
