Personal Submarines for Sale — The Complete Buyer's Guide

Searching for a submarine for sale leads to a lot of noise and very few places where you can actually buy one. TheArsenale curates personal submarines and luxury submersibles from proven builders such as U-Boat Worx and Seamagine — from compact two-seater subs designed to live in a superyacht garage to deep-diving craft built for true exploration. Every listing here is a machine we can actually deliver, with our team as your single point of contact from first question to sea trials.

Buying a private submarine is closer to commissioning a yacht than ordering a car: configuration, depth rating, cabin layout, launch-and-recovery system and training all shape the project. That is exactly why the conversation starts before the transaction — tell us how and where you want to dive, and we will tell you honestly which submersible fits.

Which submarine fits your yacht?

The first constraint is rarely budget — it is the garage. Footprint, weight and crane capacity decide which models your vessel can carry. Compact models are designed specifically for superyacht storage, while larger expedition subs usually follow their owner on a support vessel. Send us your yacht's specifications and we will shortlist the submersibles that genuinely fit, before you fall in love with the wrong one.

How much does a personal submarine cost?

Published market prices range from around $550,000 for compact production models like the U-Boat Worx Nemo to several million dollars for multi-passenger, deep-diving submersibles — Seamagine's flagships start around $3.7M. Each listing here shows a price or a direct « ask for price » contact, and our team answers personally with configuration and delivery details.

Do you need a license to pilot a submarine?

No state license exists for recreational submersibles. Builders provide their own pilot training — typically a few days to two weeks — and many owners simply have a crew member certified. We include the training path in every purchase conversation.

How deep can a personal submarine go?

Depth ratings run from around 100 metres for compact yacht subs to 300 metres for most private models, and beyond 1,000 metres for specialised deep-diving craft. The right rating depends on what you want to see — reefs, wrecks or the deep.

Are private submersibles safe?

The serious builders certify every craft with independent classification societies such as DNV or ABS — pressure hulls, life support and every dive cycle are engineered and inspected to those standards. Certification is the first thing we check before a submersible enters this collection, and the first document we show you.

Can a submarine be stored on my yacht?

Several models here are designed exactly for that: compact footprint, reinforced lifting points and launch-and-recovery integration. Tell us your garage dimensions and crane capacity and we will confirm what fits.
